Neopit, Wisconsin (Menominee Indian Reservation) Resident
Charged With Assaulting Federal Officer
United States Attorney James L. Santelle of the Eastern District of Wisconsin, announced today that Jamie R. Corn (age: 31), of the Village of Neopit, Wisconsin (Menominee Indian Reservation), was indicted January 4, 2011, for assaulting a federal officer. If convicted, Corn faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
On January 4, 2011, a federal grand jury returned a one-count indictment charging Corn with assaulting a Menominee Tribal police officer on December 11, 2010, by using the officer’s stolen squad car as a dangerous weapon in the assault.
The case was investigated by the Menominee Tribal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Timothy Funnell of the Eastern District of Wisconsin, Green Bay Division.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
