United States Attorney James L. Santelle for the Eastern District of Wisconsin announced that Connie Sax (age: 47) of Kenosha, has been sentenced by District Judge Lynn Adelman to 6 months in prison followed by 6 months of home confinement based on her convictions for tax fraud. Sax was the owner and former operator of Connie’s Day Care, a child care center which she had operated in Kenosha. Sax no longer operates this business.

From the third quarter of 2005 through the first quarter of 2009, Sax withheld $168,091.98  from her employees, but failed to pay the money to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).  She used these funds for her own benefit. Judge Adelman also ordered Sax to pay restitution of $168,091.98 to the IRS.

This matter was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service- Criminal Investigation Division. The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Mel S. Johnson.
