Madison, Wis. - John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Andrew Haas, 33, Madison, Wis., was sentenced today by Chief U.S. District Judge William Conley to 120 days in custody, to be followed by a five-year term of supervised release, for embezzling $40,559 from his employer, J.P. Morgan Chase. Haas pleaded guilty to this charge on May 5, 2011.

Between August 2009 and January 2010, Haas, an assistant branch manager, embezzled $40,559 from his employer, J.P. Morgan Chase Bank in Madison, by removing cash from an ATM and by stealing foreign currency deposits. Haas admitted his crime after he was confronted by officers from the Madison Police Department following an audit by the bank.

In addition to his custodial sentence, Haas was ordered to pay full restitution to J.P. Morgan Chase Bank.

The charge against Haas was the result of an investigation conducted by the Madison Police Department. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul W. Connell.
