Madison, Wis. - John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Sedrick Williams, 39, Madison, Wis., was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to six years in prison for distributing heroin. Williams pleaded guilty to this charge on September 13, 2011.

Between September 2010 and May 2011, Williams and his brother, Tracy Williams, conspired to distribute heroin. On five occasions in 2011, police used an undercover police officer to buy heroin directly from Sedrick Williams at different locations in Dane County. Subsequently, on May 19, 2011, law enforcement officers stopped Sedrick Williams while he was driving his car on the interstate in Dane County and recovered over 30 grams of heroin that was hidden in the engine compartment.

At sentencing, Judge Conley stated that Williams deserved a lengthy sentence due to the amount of heroin that could be attributed to him and due to his prior convictions for sexual assault, battery, escape and possession of controlled substances.

Tracy Williams was previously sentenced to four years in prison for his role in the case.

The charges against Sedrick Williams were the result of an investigation conducted by the Dane County Narcotics and Gang Task Force; Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation; and Drug Enforcement Administration. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul W. Connell.
