Two Martinsburg Residents Sentenced on Drug Charges
Barnes Sentenced to 27 Years ◆ McDonald Sentenced to 10 Months
MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — Two Martinsburg residents were sentenced on April 7, 2009, in United States District Court in Martinsburg by Chief Judge John Preston Bailey.
United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that:
WILLIE EDWARD BARNES, also known as BIG WILL, age 48, of Martinsburg, was sentenced to 327 months imprisonment to be followed by five years supervised release. BARNES entered a plea of guilty on January 12, 2009, to one count of an Indictment charging him with possession with intent to distribute cocaine base on February 13, 2008. BARNES was stopped by Ranson Police for trespassing and violating his probation, and was found to be in possession of the cocaine base. BARNES is in federal custody.
MONEIK MICHELLE MCDONALD, age 27, of Martinsburg, was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment to be followed by three years supervised release. MCDONALD entered a plea of guilty on January 9, 2009, to one count of an Indictment charging her with possession of cocaine base with the intent to distribute in Martinsburg on March 2, 2008. MCDONALD is currently free on bond and will self-report to a designated federal institution.
The cases were prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti and were investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives; the Drug Enforcement Administration; the Charles Town Police Department; the Ranson Police Department; the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department; and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department.
