Martinsburg Resident Entered Guilty Plea
to Illegally Reentering the United States

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 36 year old Martinsburg, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on August 18, 2009, in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that SERVANDA VALEZ LEON entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment. The Indictment charges LEON, an alien, with illegally reentering the United States without obtaining the express consent of the Secretary of Homeland Security or the Attorney General for readmission to the United States, after having been deported in January 2005.

LEON, who is in federal custody, faces a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti and was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
