Three Individuals Sentenced in Federal Court

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — Three individuals were sentenced on December 11, 2009, in United States District Court in Martinsburg by Chief Judge John P. Bailey.

Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that:

ANGEL DEL ROSARIO ARAGON SOTO, age 29, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment to be followed by two years of supervised release. SOTO entered plea of guilty on September 8, 2009, to one count of possession of a firearm while being an alien who illegally entered the United States on September 25, 2008, in Martinsburg. SOTO was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.

SERVANDO VALDEZ LEON, age 37, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, was sentenced to time served (approximately 5 1/2 months) to be followed by one year of supervised release. LEON entered a plea of guilty on August 18, 2009, to one count of illegal reentry into the United States after having been deported. LEON was encountered by ICE agents on June 26, 2009, at a residence in Martinsburg. LEON was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.

JOMO KENYATTA MORRIS a/k/a “ANGEL”, age 20, of Newark, New Jersey, was sentenced to 37 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. MORRIS entered a plea of guilty on June 8, 2009, to one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine on November 24, 2008, in Berkeley County, West Virginia. MORRIS was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.

These cases were prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti and were investigated by the Eastern Panhandle Drug and Violent Crime Task Force consisting of officers from the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Martinsburg Police Department, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department and United States Department of Homeland Security-Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
