Clarksburg Resident Enters Plea to Firearms Charge
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - A 24 year old Clarksburg, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on December 18, 2009, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull.
Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that MATTHEW DAVID SANDY entered a plea of guilty to one count of possession of three firearms on August 28, 2009, in Harrison County, West Virginia, after having previously been convicted of breaking and entering, a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year. The firearms at issue were stolen and SANDY possessed them in connection with a burglary of a residence. SANDY, who is in custody pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn Angus Morgan and was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
