Hendricks Resident Entered Guilty Plea to
Making a False Statement on Credit Card Application
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 50 year old Hendricks, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on November 30, 2009, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Judge Irene M. Keeley.
Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that CHARLES WAMSLEY, JR. entered a plea of guilty to an Information charging him with making a false statement to a federally insured financial institution by purposely claiming his father’s social security number and date of birth in an application for a Capital One business credit card in March 2001.
WAMSLEY, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 30 years imprisonment and a fine of $1,000,000.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrew R. Cogar. The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service.
