Four Inmates at FCI Gilmer Sentenced
on Drug and Weapon Charges

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — Four inmates at FCI Gilmer entered guilty pleas and were sentenced on May 26, 2009, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that:

WINSTON AUSTIN, age 22, entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Information charging him the unlawfully possessing a 6" long handmade weapon (a shank) on January 19, 2009. AUSTIN was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment to run consecutive to his current sentence.

TIMOTHY CHRISTIAN, age 38, entered a plea of guilty to one count of a Superseding Information charging him with attempting to obtain a prohibited object. CHRISTIAN made arrangements over the telephone to have marijuana brought to him by a visitor. On March 6, 2009, the visitor was approached at the prison and turned the marijuana over to the authorities. CHRISTIAN was sentenced to six months imprisonment to run consecutive to his current sentence.

DENNIS HALL, age 35, entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Information charging him with unlawfully possessing a 7-1/2" long metal shank. HALL was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment to run consecutive to his current sentence.

DIVINE HERNANDEZ, age 33, entered a plea of guilty to a one-count Information charging him with receiving marijuana from a visitor at FCI Gilmer on February 21, 2009. HERNANDEZ was sentenced to six months imprisonment to run consecutive to his current sentence.

The cases were prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David E. Godwin. The cases were investigated by the Special Investigative Services at FCI Gilmer and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
