Bridgeport Resident Sentenced to 5+ Years
for Distributing “Crack” within 1,000 Feet of
Monticello Avenue Playground
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 30 year old Bridgeport, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on June 15, 2009, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.
United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that AHMAD PETERSON was sentenced to 63 months imprisonment to be followed by three years supervised release. PETERSON was convicted in January 2009 after a two-day trial on two counts of distribution of “crack” cocaine within 1,000 feet of Monticello Avenue Playground in Clarksburg on April 2, 2006, and on May 22, 2006.
PETERSON is in federal custody.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn Angus Morgan. The case was investigated by the Harrison/Lewis County Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, consisting of officers from the Clarksburg Police Department, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, the Bridgeport Police Department, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
