Wheeling Resident Pled to Firearms Violation
WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 28 year old Wheeling, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on March 6, 2009, in United States District Court in Wheeling before Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.
United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that TYRONE M. ALLEN entered a plea of guilty to one count of causing an individual to provide a false statement in the acquisition of a firearm on February 6, 2008, in Wheeling. ALLEN, in connection with the acquisition of a Bersa, Model Thunder 380 pistol, had an accomplice make a false statement by stating she was the actual buyer of the firearm when she was acquiring the firearm for ALLEN.
ALLEN, who is in custody pending sentencing, faces a maximum exposure of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David J. Perri. The case was investigated by agents of the Bureau Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
