Wheeling Man Sentenced on Firearms Charge

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 24 year old Wheeling, West Virginia, resident was sentenced today (November 9, 2009), in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that: GERALD WAYNE JAKO, JR. was sentenced to 63 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. JAKO entered plea of guilty on April 27, 2009, to one count of possession of a firearm on February 19, 2009, in Wheeling, after having previously been convicted of aggravated assault in Belmont County, Ohio. JAKO was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a Federal institution.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David J. Perri. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
