Illegal Alien Entered Guilty Plea

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - A 29 year old illegal alien entered a plea of guilty today (November 4, 2009) in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.

Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that JOSE ZAMORA ORTIZ entered a plea of guilty to illegally re-entering the Untied States without permission from the Secretary of Homeland Security nor the Attorney General of the United States. ORTIZ was most recently deported on March 12, 2008, from Nogales, Arizona.

ORTIZ, who is currently in custody, faces a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti. The case was investigated by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
