Hazelton Inmate Entered Guilty Plea
to Aiding and Abetting Assault

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 37 year old federal inmate entered a plea of guilty on October 13, 2009, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Judge Irene M. Keeley.

Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that JOSEPH VANSACH, an inmate at USP Hazelton, entered a plea of guilty to aiding and abetting the assault of another inmate using a lock attached to a short belt on August 13, 2008.

VANSACH, who is currently in custody, faces a penalty of 42 to 60 months imprisonment.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David E. Godwin. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
