Harpers Ferry Resident Entered Guilty Plea
to Cocaine Charge
MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 20 year old Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on September 2, 2009, in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.
United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that DAWN WILEY entered a plea of guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine base. During a traffic stop on November 3, 2007, WILEY was found in possession of cocaine base in a hairspray can with a false bottom.
WILEY, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of five to 40 years imprisonment and a fine of $2,000,000.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas O. Mucklow. The case was investigated by the Martinsburg Police Department, the West Virginia State Police, and the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force. The Task Force consists of officers from the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigations, the Martinsburg Police Department, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department.
