Hazelton Inmate Sentenced
for Possessing a Shank

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 41 year old federal inmate was sentenced on September 2, 2009, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that ISREAL DIAZ entered a plea of guilty to a one-count Information charging him with possessing a shank on October 3, 2008, which was discovered during a search at USP Hazelton. DIAZ was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment to run consecutive to his current term of imprisonment.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David E. Godwin. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Investigative Services at USP Hazelton.
