Former Wheeling Postal Employee Sentenced for
Delay or Destruction of Mail by an Employee

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 39 year old Wheeling, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on September 28, 2009, in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that TERESA L. MAGERS, a former postal employee, was sentenced to three years probation. MAGERS entered a plea of guilty on June 29, 2009, to one count of an Indictment charging her with destroying, delaying and opening letters, postal cards, and mail which came into her possession as an employee of the Postal Service from March 18, 2008, to March 19, 2008, in Ohio County.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David J. Perri. The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service, Office of Inspector General.
