Bridgeport Resident Indicted on Tax Charges

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A Bridgeport, West Virginia, resident was named in an Indictment returned by a Federal Grand Jury sitting in Clarksburg, West Virginia, on September 1, 2009.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that WILLIAM JAMES ROLLYSON was named in a five-count Indictment. The Indictment alleges that ROLLYSON failed to file income tax returns for the calendar years 2003 through 2007. The gross income for each of the calendar years alleged in the Indictment is listed below:

If convicted, ROLLYSON faces a maximum penalty of one year imprisonment and a fine of $25,000.

The case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sherry L. Muncy. The case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation Division.

It should be noted that the charges contained in the Indictment are merely accusations and not evidence of guilt, and that each defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
