Two Federal Inmates Sentenced for Assault Charges
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - Two federal inmates at USP Hazelton entered guilty pleas and were sentenced on January 15, 2010, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Judge Irene M. Keeley.
Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that:
MITCHELL FARKAS, age 40, entered a plea of guilty to a one-count Information charging him with assaulting another prisoner with a weapon with the intent to do bodily harm on July 31, 2009, at USP Hazelton. FARKAS was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment.
RICHARD MADRID, age 28, entered a plea of guilty to a one-count Information charging him with assaulting another prison with a dangerous weapon on May 26, 2008, at USP Hazelton. MADRID was sentenced to one year imprisonment.
The cases were prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David E. Godwin. The cases were investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Special Investigative Services of the Bureau of Prisons.
