Fairmont Resident Enters Guilty Plea
To Theft of Mail Matter by a Postal Service Employee
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 48 year old Fairmont, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty today (April 9, 2010), in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull.
Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that MICHAEL L. MORRIS entered a plea of guilty to one count of theft of mail matter by a postal service employee on August 5, 2009, in Fairmont. MORRIS, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn A. Morgan and was investigated by the United States Postal Service-Office of Inspector General.
