Manhattan, New York, Resident Convicted of
Drug Charge in West Virginia
MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - A 25 year old Manhattan, New York, resident was convicted by a federal trial jury on March 3, 2010, in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Chief Judge John Preston Bailey.
Acting United States Attorney Betsy C. Jividen announced that MARIO ARTHUR GARCIA was convicted of distribution of “crack” cocaine on October 4, 2007, in Martinsburg. GARCIA was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal and faces a maximum penalty of five to 40 years imprisonment and a fine of $2,000,000.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Erin K. Reisenweber and Thomas O. Mucklow. The case was investigated by the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, consisting of officers from the West Virginia State Police - Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Martinsburg Police Department, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department.
