El Salvador Citizen Entered Guilty Plea
To Illegally Re-Entering the United States
MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 26 year old Montgomery Village, Maryland, resident entered a plea of guilty on September 22, 2010, in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that RODRIGO ALFONSO CONTRERAS-GODINEZ, a citizen of El Salvador, entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging him with illegally re-entering the United States while being an alien who was previously removed from the country. CONTRERAS-GODINEZ was encountered in the United States on May 27, 2010, in Berkeley County and had not sought permission to re-enter the United States.
RODRIGO ALFONSO CONTRERAS-GODINEZ, who is currently in custody, faces a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Erin K. Reisenweber. The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security – Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
