Ohio Resident Sentenced on Drug Charge
WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA - A 32year old Cleveland, Ohio, resident was sentenced today (August 10, 2011), in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that LEON PRATER was sentenced to 109 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. PRATER entered a plea of guilty on March 28, 2011, to one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine base and cocaine HCL. During a traffic stop on October 1, 2010, PRATER was found to be in possession of 16.5 grams of cocaine base and 2.4 grams of cocaine HCL. PRATER, who was indicted in the Summer of 2010 by Ohio County for three cocaine base buys, is still pending sentencing in State court and is subject to an additional 3 to 15 years. PRATER was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a Federal institution.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney John C. Parr and was investigated by the Ohio Valley Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force. The Task Force consists of officers from the Wheeling Police Department, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
