Bank Robber Enters Guilty Plea to
Robbery of BB&T Bank In Martinsburg
MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 25 year old defendant entered a plea of guilty on November 10, 2011, in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that MICHAEL ANTHONY CAPE entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Indictment charging him with robbing the BB&T Bank in Martinsburg on July 21, 2011. CAPE, who is currently in custody pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
The funds of the BB&T Bank are federally insured.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti. The case was investigated by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
