Two Individuals Sentenced in Federal Court

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA - Two individuals were sentenced on November 29, 2011, in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that:

SEAN D. BURT, age 28, of Wheeling, West Virginia, was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment. BURT entered a plea of guilty on September 27, 2011, to escape from the Wheeling Halfway House on September 4, 2011. BURT was completing his sentence following a 2003 drug conviction at Bannum RRC of Wheeling when he gathered his belongings and left. The United States Marshals, following a quick investigation, arrested BURT four days later on Wheeling Island. BURT must also serve a term of six years of supervised release following his release for the escape conviction and his original drug conviction. BURT, who has been in custody since his arrest on September 8, 2011, was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.

NAKIA HAGER, age 27, of Charlotte, North Carolina and formerly of Wheeling, was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment to be followed by 6 months of home confinement and 6 years of supervised release. HAGER entered a plea of guilty on October 4, 2011, to one count of distribution of crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of the Wheeling Central Catholic High School on April 6, 2011. HAGER was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal. This case was investigated by the Ohio Valley Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force. The Task Force consists of officers from the Wheeling Police Department, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
