FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Pre-Trial Release Revoked for Drug Defendant
WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that the pre-trial release for DAVID L. KIDD, II, age 43, of Martins Ferry, Ohio, was revoked today by Magistrate Judge James E. Seibert. KIDD appeared at a hearing on the United States’ Motion for Sanctions for Violation of Pretrial Release Conditions this morning and did not contest the government’s request for revocation.
KIDD was the subject of a nationwide manhunt after his probation officer discovered that KIDD was not at his home on October 7, 2011, as required by pre-trial conditions that had previously been set by the United States District Court. KIDD was later apprehended on October 19, 2011, in Gore, Oklahoma.
KIDD, who will remain in federal custody pending trial, is the alleged leader of a large drug trafficking organization that is responsible for bringing hundreds of thousands of pills from Florida and South Carolina into the Ohio Valley for illegal distribution. Awaiting trial with KIDD are his remaining co-defendants: CRAIG VEGA, GEORGIANN DZIORNEY, FRED WILDERN, DAVID WOOD, ERIC TERLOSKY, and JENNIFER JOHNSON.
The trial for all of the defendants is scheduled for January 3, 2012, in United States District Court in Wheeling before Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.
