Clarksburg Resident Enters Plea in Federal Court
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 37 year old Clarksburg, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on October 12, 2011, in United States District Court in Clarksburg before Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: RICHARD HUGHES entered a plea of guilty to one count of distribution of hydromorphone within 1,000 feet of the Glen Elk City Park, also known as North Side Park, playground, on September 14, 2010. As part of his plea, HUGHES agrees to the forfeiture of any claim he may have in a 2003 Chrysler 300M and a money judgment of $2,250, representing the proceeds obtained as a result of the drug offenses. HUGHES, who is in custody pending sentencing, faces a maximum exposure of 1 to 40 years imprisonment and a fine of $2,000,000.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert H. McWilliams, Jr., and was investigated by the Harrison County Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, consisting of officers from the Clarksburg Police Department and the Bridgeport Police Department.
