Carpendale Resident Enters Plea of Guilty in Federal Court
MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 31-year old Carpendale, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on October 6, 2011, in United States District Court in Martinsburg before Magistrate Judge David J. Joel.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: MATTHEW CHRISTOPHER WALTERS entered a plea of guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. WALTERS, having previously been convicted of Burglary and Second Degree Assault knowingly possessed a Mossberg shotgun on November 20, 2009. WALTERS, who is free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum exposure of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul T. Camilletti and was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives.
