Ohio Resident Sentenced on Stolen Firearms Charge

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA - A 37 year old Martins Ferry, Ohio, resident was sentenced on September 19, 2011, in United States District Court in Wheeling by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that WILLIAM R. BRATTON was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. BRATTON entered a plea of guilty on July 19, 2011, to the possession and disposal of a stolen firearm on March 16, 2011, in Moundsville, West Virginia. BRATTON, who is free on bond, will self-report to the designated Federal institution.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert H. McWilliams, Jr. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and the Martins Ferry Police Department.
