Clarksburg Resident Sentenced on Drug Charge
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - A 41 year old Clarksburg, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on September 22, 2011, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that CHARLES D. WASHINGTON was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment to be followed by six years of supervised release. WASHINGTON entered a plea of guilty on June 7, 2011, to one count of aiding and abetting the distribution of crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of the Adamston Elementary School in Clarksburg on January 17, 2011. WASHINGTON was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a Federal institution.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn A. Morgan and was investigated by the Harrison/Lewis Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and the Street Crimes and Drugs Unit. The task force consists of officers from the Bridgeport Police Department, the Clarksburg Police Department, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department. The Street Crimes Unit consists of officers from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, the Clarksburg Police Department and the Shinnston Police Police Department.
