Two Individuals Sentenced in Federal Court

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — Two individuals were sentenced on August 2, 2012, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that:

JERMAINE CLAY, age 23, of Fairmont, West Virginia, was sentenced to 34 months imprisonment to be followed by six years of supervised release. CLAY entered a plea of guilty on April 18, 2012, to Distribution of Crack Cocaine within 1,000 feet of the 5th Street Gym in Marion County on July 30, 2011. CLAY was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a Federal institution.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley and investigated by the Three Rivers Drug Task Force, consisting of officers from the Fairmont and Monongah Police Departments.

ERIC DEBERRY, age 35, of Salem, West Virginia, was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release. DEBERRY entered a plea of guilty on March 15, 2012, to Possession of a Firearm on May 17, 2011, in Harrison County, after having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year. DEBERRY was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal ending designation to a Federal institution.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley and were investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
