Clarksburg Resident Convicted on
Cocaine and Marijuana Charges

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA — A 39 year old Clarksburg, West Virginia, resident was convicted on August 1, 2012, by an Elkins jury on two drug counts. The trial lasted one day, concluding early Wednesday evening. Chief Judge John Preston Bailey presided over the trial.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: WINSTON IRONS
was convicted on one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine on October 5, 2011, in Buckhannon, West Virginia, and one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana on December 25, 2011, in Bridgeport, West Virginia. Trial evidence indicated that IRONS had been distributing both cocaine and marijuana in north central West Virginia for over five years.

IRONS, who is in custody pending sentencing, faces a maximum penalty of 25 years imprisonment and $1,250,000 in fines.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrew R. Cogar and investigated by the West Virginia State Police-Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Buckhannon Police Department, and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department.
