PENNSYLVANIA MAN SENTENCED
FOR MARIJUANA CONSPIRACY

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA —A 35 year old Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, resident was sentenced on August 8, 2012, in United States District Court in Wheeling, West Virginia by Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that RYAN RIEGER was sentenced to six months imprisonment to be followed by two years of supervised release, with the first six months of the supervised release to be served under home detention. RIEGER entered a plea of guilty on April 30, 2012, to “Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Marijuana” from January of 2011 to March 1, 2012, in Wheeling. As part of his plea, RIEGER agreed to the forfeiture of $133,000.06 in US currency seized from him in Wheeling and $3,908 in US currency seized from his residence on March 1, 2012, as well as a 2007 Toyota Tundra pickup truck. RIEGER, who is free on bond, will self-report to the designated Federal institution on September 10, 2012.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Randolph J. Bernard and investigated by the Ohio Valley Drug and Violent Crime Task Force which consists of officers from the Wheeling Police Department, the Ohio County Sheriffs Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Also assisting in the investigation were the West Virginia State Police-Bureau of Criminal Investigations, the Drug Enforcement Administration-Fairview Heights Resident Office in Fairview Heights, Illinois, and the Pennsylvania State Police.
