Former Delaware Resident Sentenced for
Failure to Update Registration
Under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 43 year old former Wilmington, Delaware, resident was sentenced on February 6, 2012, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: MICHAEL BARR was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment to be followed by ten years of supervised release. BARR entered a plea of guilty on November 16, 2011, to one count charging him with traveling in interstate commerce from September 3, 2010, to September 29, 2010, in Harrison and Monongalia Counties and failing to update his registration. BARR was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a Federal institution.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen D. Warner and was investigated by the United States Marshals Service and the Morgantown detachment of the West Virginia State Police.
