Clarksburg Resident Sentenced in Federal Court

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — A 45 year old Clarksburg, West Virginia, resident was sentenced on January 18, 2012, in United States District Court in Clarksburg by Judge Irene M. Keeley.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: PAUL ALLEN BARNETT was sentenced to 46 months imprisonment, to be followed by six years of supervised release. BARNETT entered a plea of guilty on October 7, 2011, to one count of aiding and abetting the distribution of crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of the Monticello Avenue playground and the Harrison Street playground in Clarksburg on May 24, 2011. BARNETT was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a Federal institution.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zelda E. Wesley and was investigated by the Harrison County Task Force consisting of officers from the Clarksburg Police Department, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and the Bridgeport Police Department.
