Moundsville Resident Enters Plea in Federal Court
WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA — A 31 year old Moundsville, West Virginia, resident entered a plea of guilty on January 18, 2012, in United States District Court in Wheeling before Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr.
United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that: SHANEY LILLEY entered a plea of guilty to one count of bank embezzlement. LILLEY engaged in a scheme to knowingly embezzle approximately $78,185.78 from the BB&T Bank in Moundsville from at least February of 2007 to June 29, 2011. On June 25, 2010, as part of the embezzlement scheme, LILLEY fraudulently processed a loan in the name of a customer in the approximate amount of $7,025 which proceeds were utilized for the personal benefit and use of LILLEY. LILLEY, who is free on bond, faces a maximum exposure of 30 years imprisonment and a fine of $1,000,000.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Randolph J. Bernard and was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
