KANAWHA COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON ON ILLEGAL FIREARM POSSESSION CHARGE
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Robert Douglas Clark, 63, of Eskdale, Kanawha County, West Virginia, was sentenced today to 12 months and one day in prison by United States District Judge John T. Copenhaver Jr. for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Clark pleaded guilty in March to the charge. On September 21, 2010, members of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department “STOP” team went to the defendant’s residence and found him to be in possession with the intent to distribute marijuana. Clark admitted that he had sold marijuana and possessed two loaded firearms at the time. The defendant was previously convicted of a drug-related crime on June 5, 1989.
The investigation was conducted by the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant United States Attorney Monica Schwartz handled the prosecution.
