OHIO WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO HEROIN DISTRIBUTION

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin announced today that an Ohio woman pleaded guilty in federal court to heroin distribution.  Christina Nease, 32, of South Point, OH, admitted that from February 2011 until March 2011, she conspired with other known individuals to distribute heroin in and around the Huntington area.  On February 25, 2011, an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent arranged to purchase a quantity of heroin from the defendant.  Prior to conducting the illegal transaction, Nease’s vehicle was stopped by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.  During the traffic stop, Nease was found to be in possession of 24.76 grams of heroin.  Nease further admitted that on February 28, 2011, she sold cocaine to an undercover DEA agent in exchange for $200.  The defendant also admitted that on March 3, 2011, she sold heroin to an undercover DEA agent in exchange for $1,400.  Nease also admitted to prearranging a heroin transaction on March 7, 2011 between her associates and an undercover law enforcement agent.  The heroin was sold in exchange for $1,700.

Nease faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine when she is sentenced on October 1, 2012 by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Huntington Police Department conducted the investigation.  Assistant United States Attorney Joseph F. Adams is in charge of the prosecution.
