CHARLESTON WOMAN SENTENCED TO PRISON ON FEDERAL DRUG CHARGE
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin today announced that a Charleston woman was sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison for maintaining a residence for the distribution of crack cocaine. Eva Marie Bunner, 28, of South Charleston, W.Va., formerly of Huntington, previously pleaded guilty in April. Bunner admitted that from December 17, 2008 through early August 2009, she permitted several known associates to use her Huntington apartment for the purpose of storing and selling oxycodone tablets and crack cocaine. Bunner further admitted that she participated in the distribution of oxycodone pills, where she received $1500 worth of pills on average per week in advance. In addition, Bunner admitted that she made approximately four trips to Detroit to obtain pills that she brought back to Huntington for resale.
This case was prosecuted as part of an ongoing effort led by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs. The U.S. Attorney’s Office, joined by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, is committed to aggressively pursuing and shutting down illegal pill trafficking, eliminating open air drug markets, and curtailing the spread of opiate painkillers in communities across the Southern District.
The Huntington Violent Crimes and Drug Task Force conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Gregory McVey handled the prosecution.
