BECKLEY MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON ON BANK ROBBERY CHARGE
BECKLEY, W.Va. – Edward D. Miller, 32, of Beckley, was sentenced today to 57 months in prison by United States District Judge Irene C. Berger for bank robbery. Miller pleaded guilty in February to the charge. The defendant admitted that on June 7, 2010, he robbed the First Peoples Bank located in Mullens, West Virginia. Miller further admitted that he handed a note to a teller, who gave him $2,607 that was located in a bank drawer. Later that day, law enforcement officers arrested Miller in Mercer County and recovered all but $438 of the money stolen from the bank.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police. Assistant United States Attorney John File handled the prosecution.
