THREE PILL DEALERS PLEAD GUILTY TO FEDERAL PRESCRIPTION PAINKILLER CHARGES

Conspiracy responsible for distributing 5,000 oxycodone pills

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A Lincoln County couple and an associate pleaded guilty today in federal court to illegally distributing prescription painkillers. Timothy Joe Terry, 47 and his wife, Debra Terry, 46, both of Alkol, Lincoln County, W.Va., and Kelly Joe Anderson, 38, of Columbus, Ohio, pleaded guilty to distribution of oxycodone, a powerful prescription pain drug.

The defendants were part of a pill conspiracy responsible for the distribution of approximately 5,000 30-milligram oxycodone pills in and around Lincoln County.  It is believed that the oxycodone pills distributed by the defendants were brought to West Virginia from Columbus, Ohio.

Each defendant faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine when they are sentenced on August 20, 2012 by United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston.

The investigation was conducted by the West Virginia State Police. Assistant United States Attorney William King is handling the prosecution.

This case was prosecuted as part of an ongoing effort led by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs.  The U.S. Attorney’s Office, joined by various federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, remain committed to aggressively pursuing and shutting down illegal pill trafficking, eliminating open air drug markets and curtailing the spread of opiate painkillers in communities across the Southern District.
