CHEYENNE, WY - Marcelo Cruz-Heuto, 26, of Mexico, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on November 15, 2011, for illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien into the United States. Cruz-Heuto was arrested in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He received time served plus ten days and was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment. This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
CHEYENNE, WY - Kara Burns, 33, of Sterling, Colorado, was sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal on November 14, 2011, for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine. Burns was arrested in Denver, Colorado. She received 63 months of imprisonment, to be followed by four years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and a $400.00 fine. This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Internal Revenue Service.
