James Byrd, 46, of Johnstown, Colorado, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on April 26, 2012, for theft or bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds. Byrd appeared pursuant to summons in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He received five years of supervised probation with the first six months on home confinement and monitoring and was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and restitution in the amount of $51,910.00. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Darwin Marsha Hancock, 41, of Cass City, Michigan, formerly of Rock Springs, Wyoming, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl on April 24, 2012, for possession of child pornography. Hancock was arrested in Jacksonville, Florida. She received 37 months of imprisonment, to be followed by a life term of supervised release. In addition, the defendant was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment and restitution in the amount of $300.00. This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Christopher Taveira, 38, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, was sentenced by Chief Federal District Court Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal on April 20, 2012, for production of child pornography. Taveira was arrested in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He received 150 months of imprisonment, to be followed by a life term of supervised release and was ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment. This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
