Summary

(U) This National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC) monthly intelligence product is a supplement to the Southwest Border Drug Seizure Statistics Report--February 2010 and Year-to-Date 2010 (Product No. 2010-R0926-004). NDIC, at the request of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), began to prepare the Southwest Border Drug Seizure Statistics Report in January 2007 to help policymakers and law enforcement decisionmakers identify key locations through which illicit drugs are smuggled to the United States across the U.S.-Mexico border (Southwest Border). In preparing the main report, NDIC analysts review detailed data regarding drug seizure activity at and between U.S. ports of entry (POEs) along the Southwest Border; these data are provided to NDIC by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the conclusion of the most current month. This supplemental report--which consists of detailed statistical data provided by CBP, organized into tables by area, POE, and sector--is analyzed by NDIC analysts in the production of the monthly Southwest Border Drug Seizure Statistics Report. Please refer to the Southwest Border Drug Seizure Statistics Report--February 2010 and Year-to-Date 2010 (Product No. 2010-R0926-004) for complete analysis of the data as well as detailed maps depicting drug seizure amounts along the Southwest Border.
