Economic Analysis Group

The Economic Analysis Group (EAG) provides economic analysis for all civil enforcement, regulatory proceeding, and competition advocacy matters, from the initial investigative stage through their final resolution.

The economic issues most often analyzed by EAG include the competitive effect of mergers and acquisitions, the competitive effects of various alleged trade restraints and proposed regulatory changes, and economic aspects of competition advocacy efforts undertaken by the Division. Economists work extensively with Foreign Commerce Section attorneys on international matters and assist foreign governments in writing antitrust laws, training antitrust officials, and evaluating specific competitive issues.
