The Land Acquisition Section secured the site for the expansion of runways at the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma. Located along the Colorado River in the southwestern Sonoran Desert, the air base was one of the busiest flying schools in the nation during World War II. Today, it provides the Corps access to over 2.8 million acres of bombing and aviation training ranges, supporting 80% of the Corps’ air-to-ground aviation training.
