The Interview Process At A Glance
A step-by-step guide to the process
Step 1: You receive notice that you have been selected for an interview by one or more of the components you listed on your application. Notice will be issued by e-mail using the e-mail address you provided in your application. This change in your application status will also be posted on the application website.
Step 2: You complete the travel survey posted on the Honors Program Interview web page and fax it to the Conference and Contract Section (CCS) at (202) 307-0862. If you cannot complete your fax transmission using that number, an alternate is (202) 307-1874.
Step 3: The CCS staff schedules your interview(s), makes travel reservations, and prepares the proper travel authorization documents. CCS will e-mail your itinerary and travel information to you using the e-mail address you provide on the travel survey. You should hear from CCS by the Wednesday prior to the week in which your interview is scheduled. The Department will interview during regular business hours from October 6 - October 20, 2008 less weekends and federal holidays. Please
check your e-mail regularly, including your spam or junk filter. If you have not received a message from DOJ by Tuesday, October 14, 2008, contact OARM immediately at (202) 514-8900 and request assistance.
Step 4: It is our policy to arrange travel that does not require an overnight stay. However, if your interview schedule requires an overnight stay, you will be authorized reimbursement of lodging costs up to the current government "per diem" amount. Current government lodging rates are available at www.gsa.gov. Per diem rates are subject to change effective October 1, 2008 (the start of Fiscal Year 2009). You will be responsible for making your own hotel reservations. Be sure to retain a copy of the lodging receipt as it will be required for reimbursement. For more detailed information about reimbursable expenses and travel, see the Travel Memo link posted on the Honors Program Interviews web page.
Step 5: You travel to Washington, D.C. for your interview(s). (Some candidates selected by the Antitrust Division may be routed to other major cities. The Antitrust Division will schedule those interviews separately.) (Candidates selected by U.S. Attorney’s Offices will interview in their respective Districts. The CCS staff will schedule these interviews.)
Step 6: Within 5 business days after completing your interview travel, complete your reimbursement form and fax it to CCS. CS will prepare a formal travel voucher to authorize repayment for authorized costs associated with your travel and mail it to you for your signature. Please review the form to ensure your address is correct, then sign and return the form. Be sure you keep receipts for any expenditure of $75 or more.
