Office of the Solictor General
The position of Special Assistant to the Solicitor General is open only to law school graduates with superior academic credentials and exceptional writing skills. Applicants must have completed or be serving in a federal court of appeals clerkship. Current law students and law school graduates lacking a federal court of appeals judicial clerkship are not eligible and will not be considered. Bar admission is preferred but not required. The Special Assistant works directly with the Solicitor General and performs legal research of substantial variety and complexity, and undertakes writing assignments on a wide range of areas of federal appellate litigation. This is a 1-year term appointment. Incumbents holding this position may apply for the 2010-2011 Honors Program provided they remain eligible (e.g., have served in no more than 3 years of clerkships, fellowships, etc., including this position). U.S. citizenship required.
