ABSTRACT: Office Matter Tracking System allows Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) personnel to identify pending and completed matters within the Office.  The Office Matter Tracking System also contains the names of OLC personnel assigned to matters, the status of matters and the date received.

PURPOSE: The Office Matter Tracking System is used to track matters currently or formerly worked on by OLC and to identify the attorneys assigned.  Word searches can be done to identify matters.

ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: The Office Matter Tracking System is available only to OLC personnel.

USE CONSTRAINTS: Restricted to OLC personnel for official business.

AGENCY PROGRAM: The Office of Legal Counsel assists the Attorney General in his function as legal advisor to the President and all Executive Branch agencies.  The Office drafts legal opinions of the Attorney General and also provides its own written opinions and oral advice in responses to requests from the Counsel to the President, the various agencies of the Executive Branch, and offices within the Department.  All Executive Orders and proclamations proposed to be issued by the President are reviewed by OLC for form and legality.  In addition to serving as, in effect, outside counsel for the other agencies of the Executive Branch, the OLC also functions as general counsel for the Department.
